Going green is one thing that we have all heard about lately on the news, from friends and elsewhere. One of the places to start going green is with solar energy. While costly up front, the benefits do pay off in the end, and you can even sell your extra power back to the grid every month, with the electric company cutting YOU a check!

First off, what is solar energy? Solar energy is the energy we get from the sunlight. It has many purposes aside from giving us light in the morning, helping crops grow to the fullest, and giving vitamins to human bodies. It can be a source of electrical energy that we can use every day, be it at home or at work. We can also trim down expenses by using this solar energy. A good example would be making use of solar panels which you commonly find on remotely relocated houses that do not have easy access electricity. We are starting to see it become applicable in everyday uses, while still not common in neighborhoods; this is an industry that is expected to BOOM. They make use of this kind of technology to convert sunlight into electrical energy with the use of solar panels. Since the type of current converted by panels is DC, people can use special DC appliances or can also get an inverter and convert DC into AC current, which our normal home appliances use. It is true that people need to spend money to install solar panels but we have to think of the advantages we get in the long run, like the savings we could acquire from our reduced electricity bills and most importantly by going green since producing electricity burns coal, which is bad for the environment.

Another way would be making use of a solar water heater, instead of using a typical water heater, this can also help us cut down our water heating bills by up to 50%-80%, and since the sunlight can do this job, why not take advantage of it?

Solar battery chargers are everyone’s best friend since almost all of us have cell phone and laptop, which are useless without a battery with power, what if there is an emergency and you need to make a call or an important document is needed from your Laptop and you cannot access it because batteries died. Solar battery chargers are like a portable solar panel that is usually carried through backpacks, jackets or just basically rollouts. Using this technology is easy to manipulate, just simply bring the backpack as a normal bag then it will automatically acquire energy from sunlight. On the other hand, using solar signs like billboard and traffic light is also efficient since it is directly exposed in sunlight therefore, it can easily receive solar energy. Almost everything can be powered by solar energy, even Toyota has put solar technology into its latest Prius Hybrid

There are a lot of ways to save money while helping environment, we just have to be committed in seeing them through to see the benefits. Luckily, many technologies are now being discovered to further maximize the use of solar energy. We just have to support these kinds of tools, because with all of us practicing conservation, we will all benefit and see the differences.

Saving electricity not only helps the environment, but it also helps our wallet. While doing research on the issue, I was shocked to find out how much some everyday appliances in our homes cost to run. For instance, a 60 watt light bulb on 24/7 will cost you $60 a year to power! That is just insane! Check out our article and start saving electricity, and cash!

There a lot of ways to save money and you can start by saving electricity. It saves money because the less you use electricity, the lower your bill is, since the cost of electricity will depend on where you live, and how much electricity you use. Not only does it saves your money, it also saves the planet. Most electricity is generated by burning coal and running nuclear power plants. Do you know what it means? It means that whenever you turn on any lights, you are already creating a little pollution. So saving electricity doesn’t just put money back to your pockets and wallets, you are also keeping the air and water clean as well.

You can save electricity anywhere at anytime and you can start off by doing it at home. You can save electricity as simple as by turning off the lights when you leave a room or when you are not using them. If you leave a 60 watt light bulb on 24/7, it will cost you around $60 per year in electricity versus a night light that costs about $5 a year. It is recommended that you use daylight hours and do not turn on the light and lamps. Imagine how much you will save if you turn off things whenever you are done using it. Make sure that you also turn off the electronics that you have if you are not using them like your television set, radios, stereos, DVD players, fan, air conditioning, and computers. Also, if you are planning to go out of town, please make sure that when you leave, unplug all these machines, because they have stand-by functions that consume electricity even when they are turned off. Another thing that I have discovered and was shocked at, is that a waterbed heater costs about $500 a year if it is left on. So to save money, do not forget to either turn it off in warm months or switch from a waterbed all together. For those who love to cook, slow cookers use very little energy so you can try it and see it for yourself. Also, try to boil only the amount of water that you need so that you don’t have to wait very long for the water to boil, and save the electricity or the gas from the stove.

Those are just a few tips on how to save electricity. You may or may not try it, but if you really want to help save the planet, and save some money at the same time, just give it a shot. The tips are not only for grown-ups but for kids as well so go ahead and get them in the habit early on in life, as it is something that they will carry with them into adulthood.

Saving electricity is not only applicable at home, but at work too. Taking the stairs instead of elevators or escalators whenever it is possible is one form of saving electricity. You will save energy and you will get some exercise at the same time. Use manual doors rather than the electric ones if there are some available. Make sure that all computers and monitors are switched off if you are not using them. Did you know that if you leave your Desktop Computer on for 24/7, it will cost you around $200 per year? Isn’t it amazing to know that you can save money just by doing that? You may also suggest to your bosses to make it a company policy to turn computers off at night, imagine saving $100 per year per computer at a big office building! That can save lots of money!
